Construction of concrete walls is an important phase in making construction. It is built as a load-bearing formation to transfers loads from floor to the wall under or to the foundation, in addition to divide areas in multi-storey buildings.

Moreover, the concrete wall is a useful structural component in earthquake-prone areas since it presents adequate performance during earthquakes.

Elements used in Concrete Wall Construction

There are several types of elements used in the construction of concrete walls. These materials require to adjust to applicable codes and specifications.

  • different types of cement are available, and Portland cement is the most famous one.
  • Aggregate
  • Sand
  • Admixtures
  • Steel Reinforcement
  • Form-work materials; wood, steel, aluminum, plastic, a composite of cement and foam insulation, or a composite of cement and wood chips.

Stiffen with Pilasters

If you’re developing a long wall, local building codes may need you to extend it by constructing core-filled pilasters at periods with its length. The pilasters are produced by preventing the course of the wall with two perpendicular blocks set side by side, alternating with a full block every other course.

In order for the pilasters to receive proper support, you must pour your footing to support them, inserting lengths of re bar into the footing where the cores of the pilaster will be.

Once you have created the wall to its finished height, fill the pilaster cores with mortar mixed somewhat wetter than joint mortar so it pours more quickly. You will also have to fit re bar in the footing of a retaining wall and core-fill the wall for added strength.

  • Concrete compaction and finishing equipment
  • Safety accessories for workers

Precast Concrete Walls

Precast concrete walls formed by casting concrete in a reusable wall mold or form. Although, preserving in a control atmosphere, transport to the construction site and elevated into place. The main purpose of the precast walls is to speed up the construction process.

Concrete Retaining Wall

A concrete block retaining wall is an ideal solution to control erosion, to eliminate a hard-to-mow slope. To combine a planting bed, or to level an ideal patio area. These methods are easy to install, durable, reasonably priced and available in a variety of colors and textures.
